Best Places to Live in Greenville, SC
By The Good Greek

Greenville, South Carolina, ranks among the fastest-growing areas of the country for good reason. Neighborhoods in the city offer everything from historic charm to the amenities and conveniences of modern communities, all located within the natural beauty of the Upstater region of South Carolina.

Affordable, safe, friendly, and community-minded neighborhoods draw people from across the country to move to this part of the South. There are few places in the country that offer a better mix of natural beauty, job opportunities, and a growing arts and food scene. But the foundation for all the growth is the great communities the city has to offer.

Here are seven of the most popular neighborhoods in Greenville, all served by Good Greek Moving & Storage Greenville.

Botany Woods

This beautiful neighborhood is best known as a great place for young families to flourish. Crime rates are low and there are plenty of single-family traditional estates and ranch-style homes located on streets lined with oak trees, dogwoods, magnolias, and azaleas. With about 300 homes, Botany Woods is a smaller, highly desirable community.

Augusta Road

Local residents call the Augusta Road area “The 05” because of the last two digits in the area’s zip code. This is an established neighborhood that includes a mix of historic homes, renovated homes, and new homes. It’s near a centralized shopping area that has about 70 shops and is known as being zoned to some of the best schools in Greenville.

North Main

Conveniently located near downtown Greenville, North Main offers the charms of an older neighborhood that has an eclectic mix of housing, including newly remodeled older homes and some new construction. It’s also home to some of the oldest houses built in Greenville. There’s a farmer’s market every weekend and easy access to some of the best restaurants in the city.

The Cliffs

Located just outside the city limits of Greenville, The Cliffs offers a beautiful neighborhood with spacious homes. It’s also a golfer’s paradise, with multiple courses scattered throughout the area. The Cliffs offer an appealing, secluded, almost village-like living style.

Overbrook

Another historic neighborhood located just over a mile south of downtown Greenville, Overbrook features craftsman-style homes, some dating back to the neighborhood’s founding in 1913. Overbrook also features many beautiful parks, including Hessie T. Moriah Park, Timmons Park, Railroad Mini Park, and Arthur Black Park.

Claremont

This is one of the newer neighborhoods in the Greenville area, developed around 2006. The gated community offers a safe and quiet atmosphere, with spacious homes and tree-lined streets. It’s also convenient to Roper Mountain Road and an easy drive to downtown.

Gower Estates

Gower Estates is a large, established neighborhood just south of downtown Greenville. Built-in the 1970s and 1980s, the neighborhood offers mature trees, large yards, and brick homes set far off the street. The neighborhood features a large swimming pool and a 21-acre park.

These rank among some of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Greenville. One of the great things about the city is that it offers something for everyone. Before making your move to Greenville, make sure to check out all that the city’s neighborhoods have to offer.
