Make Spring Cleaning Easier with A Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring is finally here, which is great news. Spring cleaning time is also here, which is less-than-great news. However, it’s easier if you have a spring cleaning checklist to remind you of everything you need to clean and also to give you that sense of accomplishment as you tick off each item on your list. After a first step that involves all rooms, the checklist provides you with spring cleaning tasks for each room.
Items For Every Room
- Clean out all unneeded clutter from drawers, tabletops
- Dust ceiling corners for cobwebs
- Dust ceiling fans and light fixtures
- Clean window sills
- Wipe down baseboards
- Wipe down walls
- Use attachment to vacuum curtains and blinds
- Vacuum floor – use attachments to reach areas that don’t always get vacuumed
- Test smoke detector batteries
- Clean light switches, cabinet and drawer handles, and doorknobs
- Mop and wax hardwood floors
- Deep clean carpets
Clean Electronics
- Smartphone
- TV clickers
- TV screens
- Computer screens
- Computer keyboard
Bedroom
- Clean bedding, including pillows and comforters (check label for washing instructions)
- Use attachment to vacuum mattress, also rotate the mattress
- Go through the closet and store shoes and clothing you won’t need for warmer spring and summer months
- Go through spring and summer clothes and make sure you want to keep everything you stored away last fall, donate the rest
Bathroom
- Clean out medicine cabinet and drawers of unneeded items
- Replace worn down toothbrushes and razors
- Wash or replace shower curtain liner
- Wash floor mat
- Scrub shower and bathtub
- Scrub toilet inside and out, and scrub tile around the toilet
Laundry Room
- Clean out the filter in both the dryer and washer
- Clean behind the washer and dryer
Living Room/Den
- Take cushions out of furniture, use attachments to vacuum both
- Use attachments to vacuum lampshades
- Dust and polish all furniture, decorative items, picture frames
- Clean mirrors
Kitchen
- Take everything out and completely clean the interior of the refrigerator
- Clean behind and beneath refrigerator (including dusting coils)
- Clean coffee maker, microwave, and other small appliances
- Thoroughly clean oven and scrub stovetop
- Clean out cabinets and clean every shelf
- Throw away expired/unwanted items
- Take items out of the pantry and clean pantry shelves
- Empty toaster crumb tray
- Clean dishwater – dirt and gunk can accumulate around the drain
- Thoroughly clean sink, including drain cover and drain rim
Outside
- Clean windows
- Remove window screens and clean them
- Pressure wash patio
- Clean grill
- Clean patio furniture
- Hose out the garbage can and recycling can
